A WIDE RANGE

Limpopo’s fruits and vegetables form an important part of South Africa’s export industry, and plant production is a major part of Mgagao Shamba’s commercial operation, which boasts a healthy harvest of citrus and subtropical fruits, as well as vegetables.

As one of the contributors to the country’s annual production of avocadoes, litchis, tomatoes and mangoes, with exports rising exponentially; Mgagao Shamba also harvests a healthy crop of wheat, yellow and white maize, rice and sugar cane. The agriculture sector in Limpopo is dominated by horticulture, and on Mgagao Shamba, the varied climate produces a wide variety of agricultural produce.

GREENHOUSE PRODUCE

ALWAYS IN SEASON

Also known as a botanical gem in the heart of Limpopo, the flower and herb offering from Mgagao Shamba are grown in greenhouses, and based on the best variety for the tropical climate in the province.

Cotton growing is experiencing a renewal in Limpopo, and forms part of the crop rotation practices at Mgagao Shamba. This natural, renewable resource is responsible for reducing the carbon footprint and is farmed under irrigation, before being harvested by hand as high quality, exportable cotton.

LIVESTOCK & GAME

The Classic Choice

With innovative livestock farming systems and the development of specialised markets, Mgagao Shamba strives to improve the quality of livestock breeding animals, to meet market specifications. 

With a meat producing breed of cattle, pigs, sheep and goats; the mixed cattle are bred for both meat and dairy purposes; while the buffalo, horses, mules and camels are bred for resale.

A separate operation, Mgagao Shamba’s poultry farming division raises chickens, ducks, turkeys, guinea fowl, geese and squabs to produce both meat and eggs.
